Hello Pack 70/72 Parents and Hikers,

Please review the following updates and schedule for the upcoming Pack Nature Hike at Discovery Park.

We have an exciting event planned but it will require a little extra preparation and planning to make sure everyone has a good/safe time (and make it back before darkJ).

Important Notes/Updates:

Please plan to arrive on-time (before 6:00pm).  We want to have enough time to cover some important topics, have an fun/leisurely hike (Tigers included) – and get back before dark.

We are meeting in the North Parking Lot – NOT at the main Environmental Learning Center (see attached Trail Map)

What to Wear:  The evenings are getting cooler L  Wear your Pack t-shirts and bring appropriate coats/clothing for weather (rain or shine), hat, sturdy shoes (avoid open toes).

What to Bring:  Water(!), light trail snacks, first aid kit, compass, flashlight, walking stick, whistle, pedometer, fun trail songs (think 10 essentials) + bug spray
     - Also, we will have some time for play on the beach, so you may consider bringing a change of clothes.

Schedule:

     5:45 - 6:00      -        Welcome and sign-in

6:00                -        10 Essential Items, Buddy System, What to do if you get Lost?          [Mark Sarbach]

6:10                -        Leave No Trace                                                                                     [Fred Coutts]

6:15                -        Map and Compass Belt Loop Requirements                                        [Louisa Clayton]
                                     – with special guest Max Lyon, Troop 72 - Senior Patrol Leader

6:30 - ~8:00    - Hike!!! …See the attached Trail Map -- our route is highlighted in yellow.

We’ll be hiking out of the North Parking lot, over the Loop Trail and down to the beach.

Based on how long this takes, we’ll have some time to explore the beach and return (hopefully) before dark.

Thanks!  We’ll look forward to seeing you at this fun, summertime Queen Anne Cub Scout outing!
